About our AAU Basketball Coaches
Girls Program Director and Head Coach Bio – Nick Whitmore
Coach Nick Whitmore grew up in a family of coaches, mentored by his Father who coached Division 1 basketball for twenty years, at the University of Vermont and St. Bonaventure University. Coach Whitmore's experiences range from coaching AAU basketball to high school to the collegiate level, through all of which he was able to focus on developing a deep understanding of the game in each of his players. Coach Whitmore is currently in his first year as the Girl's Varsity Basketball Coach at the Drew School and has made an immediate impact on the culture and competitive level of play, instilling a tough nosed, defensive mindset in his team. Prior to his time as a head coach, Whitmore worked as a Student Assistant for both the University of Rhode Island and Boise State University Men's teams.
In addition to his coaching duties at Drew and with Bay City Basketball, Coach also works as a Volunteer Assistant with the University of San Francisco's Men's Basketball team and spends his summers working at a variety of top tier basketball camps, including the University of Connecticut, University of Georgia, and the University of Rhode Island.
“My goal as a coach is to instill a deep understanding of the skills and concepts necessary to excel at the highest level of basketball in each of my players. I believe in playing a brand of basketball that is fast paced yet disciplined, placing a premium on rebounding the basketball, winning hustle stats, and tremendous team defense. In addition to basketball skills, my goal is to develop true student-athletes who, more important than a winning record, leave the program as better people. ”
