Players of the Week (April 16- April 22)
Players of the Week:
5th-8th grade: Jake Tulchinsky led the 7th black team to a championship at the Xtreme Hoops tournament in Rocklin. The big man was dominant in the team's route of Mission City Maulers as he simply was too strong inside the paint on offense and defense. He rebounded, blocked shots and made strong post moves all day to help the team secure it's first tournament title of the season. Jake has been steadily improving and is in his 2nd full season with Bay City Basketball. Jake's hard work at practice pushes the team to compete at a higher level and is an incredible leader on and off the court. Look for big things out of Jake for many years to come! Congrats Jake!
High School: Lucas Knorr is the Bay City's high school player of the week. Lucas returned from a separated shoulder to lead the B.C. varsity team to the tournament championship at the Xtreme Hoops tournament in Rocklin. Lucas made 13 threes and averaged 20+ points over a 3 game stretch. He had 6 threes in the final game of the day and a game high 24 points, to help his team clinch the top spot in the tourney. Lucas had a breakout season last year for Bay High School as he flourished in the dribble drive offense and received first team all league honors for the BCL Central division. We look for Lucas to continue to get better this season and have another standout year during his Senior season at Bay. Congrats to Lucas Knorr!
Players of the Week (April 9- April 15)
Players of the Week:
High School: Fletcher Brown
Bay City Varsity coach Pete Overfelt voted for Senior Fletcher Brown as our high school player of the week. Fletch played solid defense throughout the whole weekend, but his play was highlighted in Sunday’s elimination game. Down by 12 with 70 seconds left, in a span of 50 seconds Fletch hit 4 three pointers to pull B.C. to within four points. Unfortunately it wasn't quite enough as the boys fell short, losing by 7. Fletch sustained a shoulder injury in the first game Saturday, and played through the pain to lead B.C. in a rout of their second game opponent Saturday, spearheading a defensive attack that only gave up 32 points. B.C. won by 26. Fletcher is a Bay City 2nd year player and hopes to play college basketball after he graduates this year from Balboa High School. Congrats to Fletch on this week's Player of the week!
5th-8th Grade: Zach Johnson
Zach led his 5th grade black team to the Oakland Rebels tournament silver division championship and a 4-0 record. The team rallied in the semi-finals to beat rival NBBA by one point in a nail bitter and then went on to dominate Team Select by nearly 20 points in the finals. Zach did it all; He led the team in rebounds, blocks and scoring and has developed his ball handling which is a huge asset against the press. Zach also has tremendous court vision and can rebound start the break and find an open team mate for a lay-up or jump shot. The sky is the limit for Zach and we look forward to watching him grow as a player in the future with our program. Congrats to Zach for earning this week's Player of the Week for all players 5th-8th grade!
We look forward to next week's selection...Keep working hard all week in practice and it will pay off in the long run!

Players of the Week (April 2- April 8)
After much deliberation the players of the week (April 2 - April 8) are as follows:
5th-8th grade - Jared Wong: Jared led the 6th red team in two great games. One blowout win vs Gametime and one close loss vs Pinnacle. Jared was all over the court making plays on offense and defense. He did it all; pull-up 3-pointers, executing the half court offense, making floaters in the lane and being an incredible leader on the court and while on the bench. Jared also is one of the hardest workers in our program. He never takes a day off at practice and always finds time to help and encourage other team mates. Congrats to Jared Wong!
9th-Varsity - Mars Pasache: Mars led the JV team to two big wins and the Bulldawgs Shootout Championship! He dominated on the press by forcing turnovers that led to transition lay-ups. Mars brings so much energy that he forces the rest of his team to up their level of intensity in every minute of every game. Mars has an incredible way about himself. He is selfless and has a postitive attitude all the time. Mars always finds ways to give encouragement to his team mates when they make mistakes. Congrats to Mars Pasache!
Stay tuned next Monday for the Players of the Week!

Fake Tough BOSH
All star Chris BOSH was confused recently by the most boring scoring champ in history, Kevin DURANT. DURANT stated that All Star Chris BOSH was a 'fake tough guy' after his team was systematically dismantled by the all conquering MIAMI HEAT.
BOSH, who was confused about the insult, reportedly had words with coach of the year-elect, Coach SPO, at training the next day. Coach SPO explained the insult to BOSH who immediately became anxious. In his wisdom, Coach SPO called over point gaurd Carlos ARROYO and instructed him to play one-on-one with BOSH.
"Give Carlos the ball, then when he bounces the ball, hit him" Coach SPO whispered to BOSH. BOSH nodded. After checking the ball to ARROYO, BOSH quickly smacked ARROYO in the face, which brought a torrent of blood from ARROYO’s nose.
'OFFENSIVE FOUL!' Coach SPO called from the baseline. ARROYO quickly apologized to BOSH. Jo El ANTHONY ran to gather the ball and gave it back to ARROYO. ARROYO then attempted to dribble past BOSH but bounced the ball off his own knee and out of play. Once again, BOSH reacted by smacking ARROYO on the face.
"Good work Chris, you forced a turnover" Coach Spo commented.
"Good hustle, man." ARROYO said to BOSH. Coach SPO told ARROYO to keep his mouth shut. Jo El ran to gather the ball again.
"See?! You are the man, Christopher! Amazing!" Coach SPO called out. BOSH then smiled brightly before skipping over to where King James was tweeting on an iPhone.
"Did you see me!?" BOSH allegedly said to King JAMES.
"Nah." King JAMES responded.
